Best Prop Firms for NQ Futures: Topstep vs Apex vs Tradeify

If you trade NQ, choosing the right prop firm matters almost as much as your strategy. Three names come up more than most: Topstep, Apex and Tradeify. I have traded across prop firm accounts, and here is how I think about choosing between them.
Prices, promotions and rules change often, so always check each firm's current terms before you buy.
What actually matters when comparing
1. Drawdown type. Does the drawdown trail your balance during the day, or only at the end of the day? End of day drawdown is usually kinder to traders who let winners run.
2. Daily loss limit. Some firms have one, some do not. If yours does, size your trades so a normal losing streak cannot hit it.
3. Consistency rules. Some firms limit how much of your profit can come from one day. If you tend to have occasional big days, this matters.
4. Payout rules. How soon can you withdraw, how often, and how much?
5. Platform. Make sure the firm supports the platform you want to use, and that you can connect TradingView if that is where your charts and alerts live.
Topstep
One of the longest running futures prop firms, with a well known evaluation model and a big community. A sensible choice if you value an established name and clear published rules.
Apex
Known for frequent discounts and allowing many accounts at once. Popular with traders who want to scale across several accounts. Read the payout and consistency rules carefully.
Tradeify
A newer firm that markets itself on affordability and trader friendly rules. Worth comparing if cost is your main concern.
So which is best?
There is no single best firm. The best one is the firm whose rules suit your strategy:
- If your strategy has small, steady wins, most firms will suit you
- If you hold trades for bigger moves, look for end of day drawdown
- If you have occasional big days, check the consistency rules closely
My advice for beginners
Pick one firm, learn its rules inside out, and size your trades to its drawdown before your first trade. Jumping between firms after every failed evaluation is expensive.
In the Wave Rider Mentorship we build your risk plan around the specific firm you choose, so the rules work for you rather than against you.
